Pawsome Puppies Programme

Do you have a puppy under 18 weeks old? Set your puppy up for success with some Pawsome training!

Those first few months as a puppy parent are the best and worst of times! From cosy cuddles and cute antics to toilet mishaps and chewing - it’s a rollercoaster! You know training will help, but where to begin?

Pawsome Puppies, that’s where! Together, we’ll train your pup in a relaxed, friendly and fun environment. We keep classes small – no more than 6 puppies per class – to help you and your doggy build confidence and get the right support. You’ll start to understand your little furball as they develop their unique personality and the bond between you blossoms.

What’s more, you’ll join a welcoming community of like-minded, dog-loving folks getting started on their own puppy parenthood journey.

Here’s what’s included in your 3 part programme:

  • 8 weekly 50-minute sessions, using the latest science-based techniques, at our training venue. Plus, weekly handouts to recap all the good stuff you’ve learned.
  • Access to Ready Steady Puppy (rrp £95), your pre-class online course packed with around 5 hours of videos to kickstart your training journey.
  • Puppy fun! Our 30-minute Saturday Puppy Socials are held weekly and available to join after your third session. Four are included but you can always book more for just £10 per session.
In addition you'll benefit from:
  • Access to our training group call (via zoom) every week for the duration of your course.
  • Friendly, knowledgeable trainers who are just a call or email away.
  • A supportive community of like-minded dog lovers.
  • Bonus: A welcome pack with treats for both you and your pup!
And here’s what you’ll learn:
  • Tackle those pesky puppy problems, from nipping and barking to toilet training and chewing.
  • Keep your pooch out of mischief with that all-important mental stimulation! Learn how to enrich your pet pup’s life with brain games and tricks.
  • Learn your dog’s lingo to get how they communicate with furry friends and humans.
  • Get to grips with the basics such as focus, sit, recall and walking on the lead.
  • Make the most of your playtime with your puppy.
  • Practise polite social skills to interact well with humans and fellow doggies.
  • Boost your confidence with our expert guidance.

The first 2 weeks of your group course all about easing your pet into the new environment. Puppy interactions kick off from week 3.

Classes run for 8 weeks with occasional break weeks. And as we have regular intakes, your pup won’t be twiddling their paws waiting to join!

**If your puppy is 18+ weeks, check out our Life Skills course.**

Location
Our classes are held outside at our private training venue at Moat Farm in Stoke Mandeville.

Classes are held outside all year round, except for in extreme weather conditions when we move to our indoor training barn.

Please ensure your puppy wears a well-fitted harness during their training classes.

If our class days or times don't suit, we offer a variety of other services, including 121 puppy training.

If you have any questions, please call us on 07737 506587 or email [email protected].

We loved attending The Pawsome Puppy course. We got the chance to meet other puppies and share our mutual struggles and pleasures from our new additions. It was a supportive and informative environment, gave us lots of things to consider and how to gain the best from our fur babies.

As first time puppy owners, we found this fun and informative course invaluable. The classes are small and the programme is very well thought out. The course is conducted outside for a more realistic experience, in a calm and controlled environment. Debbie and the team are very supportive, friendly and down to earth, encouraging with the firm belief that no question is a silly one. There are handy tips along the way and you are introduced to great enrichment ideas and engagement games from the start - some of which we certainly wouldn’t have known about if it not been for the course. The weekly handouts are very helpful for referring back to and the end of course gifts are a lovely touch too. We definitely recommend the course to all puppy owners, new and seasoned as we guarantee you will learn something new. We booked onto the follow on course as it was an absolute no brainer!

We had a brilliant time doing the Pawsome Puppies Course with our Fox Red Lab Orla. Debbie, Jamie, and Tash were fantastic, bringing a great variety of approaches and opinions. We learned a lot and gained lots of confidence from every session. We'd say it doesn't matter whether you're starting from scratch, looking for a bit of extra reassurance, or just want a few extra training tips, we can't recommend the course enough.

I attended Pawsome Puppies with our Irish Doodle. As a first time dog owner the course was pitched perfectly - my knowledge of how dogs eat, learn, communicate and behave went from zero to hero in perfectly bite (dog treat) sized classes. The lessons instilled some great habits, all backed up with professionally produced homework reminder sheets, and most of all, oodles of confidence. I went from being quite nervous around dogs to having a great understanding of why they do what they do. Everything about the company is professionally presented with added touches to personalise the experience. Would definitely recommend Potter Paws Dog Training to anyone with a new pooch.

We recently completed the Pawsome Puppy course with our Cavapoo Winnie. An online course was available prior to the start with lots of videos giving us tips and advice. We really enjoyed the 8 week course and it helped Winnie to learn new skills and even a trick! The puppy socials which were included were a bonus! We are now attending the Puppy Progress course to continue Winnie’s learning journey. Debbie and Tasha are great trainers, they’re friendly and approachable. Thanks for all your help and support guys!

Reggie is our 3rd lab and although we had experience of puppies in general we had not done any training previously. Debbie and Tash are both lovely, friendly and approachable trainers and we were completely at ease from the start. The pawsome puppies course gave us great training ideas that we were able to build upon at home. This helped us engage with Reggie and build a good relationship with him from the get go. The course is family friendly so our daughter joined us too on our training sessions. With plenty of space in the field and small group sizes meant that we felt we had plenty of space around to practise (so the puppies didn’t get distracted by each other) and also we got some time to speak to the trainer individually for tips. We are still training with potter paws now and loving our doggie learning journey! We loved watching Reggie build in confidence and have some fabulous positive controlled meetings with the other pups too. Thank you Debbie and Tash x

Our pup has just graduated as a pawsome puppy and we all loved the course! We found it so informative and learnt so much from loose lead walking to the reason behind why training is so important. Debbie and Tash are so friendly and they were always happy to answer any questions we had. The weekly emails about what we had learnt in our lesson were very helpful and we still look back at them now. We look forward to doing further training with Luna at Potter Paws, I would recommend them to everyone!

We really enjoyed this course. It was interesting to learn the reasons why puppies behave in the ways they do and there were always useful tips and things to practise each week. The weekly handouts emailed to you help you to remember what to practise each week too.
I also found the 4 Puppy Social sessions included in the course to be very helpful for getting my puppy used to being around other dogs and for helping me to understand how we should handle these meetings too. I found the course so beneficial that I then did the follow-on Puppy Progress course and the Reduce Jumping workshop!

The harness loan and fitting scheme offered by Potter Paws is also a great idea and we have had several checks and adjustments on the harness, rather than having to buy new harnesses. Potter Paws also sells some very tasty items that my puppy loves.

We took our puppy to Potter Paws for their Pawsome Puppies course, and loved it so much we immediately booked puppy progress when the course was finished.
The class sizes are small, there was only five of us in our class, so we got plenty of time with the trainers and I felt looked after the entire time.
We've seen a massive improvement in our pup in focus and engagement, even just learning in a controlled environment with other dogs around has been so, so useful. What I loved most about the course is the supervised interactions and add-on puppy socials, we've learnt how to manage our pup saying hello to other dogs in a much more healthy way, and it's great to see his confidence grow after some bad interactions when he was younger.
Would 100% recommend to anyone who has just gotten a puppy.

Myself, my family and our pup Mabel have recently completed the Pawsome Puppies course. Mabel is our first ever puppy so having been recommended to Potter Paws myself we were excited to enrol on this course. The information and knowledge of the brilliant trainer Tash was absolutely invaluable to us. Mabel began the course very weary of other dogs so to see her grow in confidence every week was wonderful. The sessions were well structured, really got the pups engaged and we certainly had a tired out pup each week! Tash was so helpful, answered all of our questions and guided us along our very first months with Mabel. I highly recommend this course and the trainers, definitely a must for new puppy parents! We’re all looking forward to the follow on course too!

Wanting to give Luca, our Labrador puppy, the best possible start we signed up to the Pawsome Puppies course and could not have made a better choice - I would highly highly recommend this course to anyone and everyone with a young puppy. Luca had a great time, we both learnt lots with Tash and team always on hand to answer our questions and encouraged Luca when he had a lazy day. Thanks to the team we have a confident, fun loving pup who is starting to learn how to behave.

I took my Westie Pup Ronnie along to Potters Paws for his first training class which was Pawsome Puppies and it was so good for him to see other dogs and their owners! The course was for 8 weeks which seemed to fly by! Only 6 puppies in each class! At the end it was so lovely when we got given a rosette and a certificate for completing the course.
Debbie and Tash are amazing trainers and all instructions were very clear and if your dog didn’t do what was asked it was ok, there was no pressure to make them do it. Both trainers are friendly and you can ask them anything and they will use their knowledge to try and help you. Not just in your training session but anytime! They always answer any question and problems you have if you e-mail them they will get back to you with help. Ronnie loved Tash and young Yaz who helps out and always gets excited when he sees them. It’s a great way for you to get to know your puppy at training and each week you can take home what you have learned and can carry on with your own dog. You get e-mailed a sheet every week of what you did in your class so if you forget something you can refer back to it. We are so pleased we are now on the next course which is Puppy Progress. You also, get 4 puppy socialising sessions included in the Pawsome Puppy course which was so good for Ronnie interacting with other dogs but also, learning how to stay away from them as well.
Also, you can buy treats, leads, toys and assorts in the little shop they have!
I can’t recommend taking your dog along to Potters Paws enough, it’s a great start to your puppy life and also it’s good fun too!

I booked this course for my 12 week Labrador puppy mainly to ensure that we started off walking him correctly so we could avoid any bad habits forming. He hadn't been out on walks much before then, due to his age, and on our first lesson it took us nearly half the lesson to actually get him into the field from the car! I found the course very well rounded and not only did we learn how to approach situations, but we also learnt a lot about dog behaviour and why we should be doing things a certain way. We definitely got a lot out of the course and to have a weekly session which is solely focused on training was something to really look forward to. As part of the course, we got 4 free socialization classes which I just found invaluable. Not owning a dog before, I didn't know if his behaviour was normal around other dogs, whether he was too much, whether he was scared etc. so learning that side of things was very beneficial. Knowing how to interact and when to avoid interaction has just been really helpful. Debbie and Tash also encouraged questions and would always stay behind after if you had anything specific to ask - can't rate them high enough!

A brilliant way to start our puppy's training. Debbie and Tash are both really friendly, approachable and endlessly encouraging even when our puppy had other ideas! They made learning fun for everyone and our puppy would snooze for the rest of the afternoon after his class. Tash, Debbie and Yas made puppy training fun! No question was too silly to ask or be answered. Maggie, a fun loving cocker spaniel, was a new addition for my 82 year old father. He hadn't owned a dog for over 20 years. After losing my beloved Cockapoo Millie the previous year, we decided it was Dad's time to have the joy of a four legged friend, with the support of myself and the family. I mainly did the training with Dad observing. Tash always made sure Dad was comfortable and included and was always available to offer advice and suggestions, as was Debbie too. This small class helps you train your new puppy without them being distracted by other puppies. The harness hire scheme is a great idea too.

It's taken us 10 years to pluck up the courage and get another dog as we were heart broken over the loss of our 4 year old patterdale. Needless to say a 10 year gap from having a pooch left us a tad rusty on the old puppy training side of things! We enrolled Lucy our new addition, not just for her but for us as her parents! Having the support from Debbie and her fantastic team has been incredible in many ways, just knowing that the support was there whenever we needed it was invaluable. The Pawsome Puppies training is a great way to gain confidence as a handler and to really get to know and understand your dog! The online videos that came with the package were very educational and a pleasure to watch. I learned so much before I even attended the first session. I know more now from watching the videos and attending the classes than I ever have. If you are getting a new puppy, and you are thinking about dog training, then this is the class for you. The team are AMAZING at what they do, and no question about your dog is a silly one. Money well spent in my opinion.

Pawsome Puppies was an excellent refresher and introduction to puppy training! Debbie, Tash and Yas were amazing and very knowledgeable. Taking the time to answer any concerns or queries, providing sound advice and guidance. The classes were very relaxed and informative providing a great atmosphere for puppy training so much so our second puppy has started classes too, each week provides the opportunity to learn new things and build on what you have learnt so you can take the knowledge away and apply it helping to train your puppy. The classes are also a brilliant way to introduce puppies to each other in a calm and controlled environment over a number of sessions to help playful or nervous puppies, the puppy socialization periods were also excellent to help consolidate this! We would highly recommend Pawesome Puppies to new puppy owners.

This was a really helpful course, not least because if focussed as much on why and how to get the best out of a puppy. All the handouts and other info were very helpful and fitted very well with everything else we were learning. Debbie kept excellent control of all the puppy owners, so the class was not spoiled by any one family or puppy being out of control. Small class sizes helped - 6 puppies maximum. All questions answered well, even if sent by email outside class times. We have a very happy puppy, and we understand her far more as a result of this course, so many problems have been avoided rather than have them turn into annoying habits.

Nancy was nervous around other dogs when I started socialising her so wanted to get some help, I found Potter Paws from other 5* reviews so enrolled onto the course, and it's been the best investment for me and Nancy. We absolutely loved this course! Being first time owners of a Labrador, we wanted to make sure we tried our very best with his training, starting from the get go. Pawsome Puppies was an extremely helpful course to introduce our puppy to some of the basic life learnings and some little tricks on the side. Debbie was fantastic - always taking the time to help if she could see we were struggling. Debbie gave us some really helpful tips on trying to get our dogs attention (he forgets we exist when he’s outside) and even answered questions we had unrelated to course training. It was beneficial that our pup was able to be around other dogs and people at a young age as our puppy has always been reactive/vocal, so it helped socialise him to an extent. We will definitely be looking to book another course soon.

The classes enabled us gain an understanding as to how we’d like to train our puppy to fit in with our life, Debbie never promised dog training would be easy, but with her encouragement and our hard work, so far so good, the training continues to be a work in progress and I’ve already booked onto the next course with Maya!

Really enjoyed the course and learnt a lot. We were always the last to leave as my puppy never wanted to go home (so I probably have to work on recall). Learning is fun and structured. Without the classes I don't think we would have mastered half of what we can do now and it's provided a solid base to work from. It has also helped how my puppy and I work together as a team. The homework and the handouts are really valuable to continue with training outside of classes and to act as a refresher. I would highly recommend the class, and we will be back for more training.

Potter paws is fantastic, Debbie provides so much insight into the way the dog is “thinking” and to understand the body language and how to make your puppy tick, which then really supports with the bonding and ultimately training to a high standard. I’ve done puppy training elsewhere with my first dog and was very basic and no “science” involved. Potter paws teaches you the importance of the mental stimulation and how this really benefits your dog, which isn’t an area which many focus on. I would highly recommend, you’re also put at ease, puppies are incredibly hard work, you don’t feel alone in this process and potter paws really supports with this to get the best results! I’ve booked my older dog onto the life skills course in July as I’m that impressed! Thank you again and I look forward to booking more courses to ensure my dog and puppy have a happy life and we do too!

I attended Pawsome Puppies classes with my little Amy from age 10 weeks back in December, as it's 20 years since I last had puppies.

We attended the first 3 sessions in person and the rest via zoom. I wasn't sure how or even if it would work via zoom, but it absolutely did. Tash was great - so knowledgeable and experienced, and I learned so much from her in the sessions, as well as feeling reassured by hearing from other puppy owners. Their zoom sessions on other general issues such as biting, were also a life-saver. Just knowing they are there and available to ask questions helps me feel reassured.

I would definitely recommend Potter Paws and look forward to attending more training in the future.

Thank you Debbie and Tash!

Completed the puppy course with Hugo our cockapoo and thoroughly enjoyed it. Having never owned a dog before we were very grateful for Debbie’s help and guidance, she always had time to answer all our questions and made us more relaxed parents to our new puppy. Would definitely recommend.

Pawsome Puppies was a brilliant introduction to training. We experienced both face-to-face classes and then, when lockdown 2 came along, zoom classes. I have to say although different, both types of class were equally as good! Fun and informative classes, personalised help if you need it and Hettie loved it. Having gone through puppy training a few times before, I can honestly say that Pawsome Puppies was by far the best. Now just to try and decide which awesome class to do next.....

We really enjoyed our puppy classes despite the majority of them being on zoom. I actually found it less stressful and meant that I could focus on our pup. The areas we covered were all helpful and it was great that we could talk about issues we were facing at the beginning of each session which ensured that the material was tailored appropriately. We are now building on the foundations in the puppy junior class which is an amazing follow on to to ensure we continue to head in the right direction. Thank you for all your help and advice.

Originally booked with Pawsome Pups before Xmas, as were the only classes being run that I could find still being 'physically' (socially distanced) run, and was a bit wary of the success of 'Zoom' classes. However, after 2 sessions, the country was plunged into lockdown and Zoom was the only way to go!
Only 3 pups in our class, so it was very personal training! The Zoom method works a lot better than I thought it would and with the homework given at the end of each class, I was motivated to work with Ralphie, our Bearded Collie pup, every week and able to give positive feedback on his progress at every class and discuss all the problems that crop up with most puppies! I thought that he would miss the 'socialisation' aspect of the physical classes, but there have been plenty of dogs and people out for their lockdown 'exercise' on Ralphie's walkies - he has probably met many more than he ever would have done had we been in our 'normal' world!
Highly recommend Potter Paws - a good introduction to training for your puppy. Have fun with your pups - they grow so fast!🐾🐾

We attended Pawsome Pups with our cocker and were delighted with the classes with both Debbie and Tash!

The classes helped us to create great foundations in a fun and relaxed environment. We learnt lots about pups behaviours, body language and mental stimulation and always had the chance to ask any questions specific to us and our pup! Thank you Debbie and Tash!

After our 1-1 sessions with Debbie (which were brilliant, especially as we'd never had a puppy before and really needed some expert guidance!), we signed up for Pawsome Puppies and the classes have been so helpful. Debbie is a very knowledgeable teacher with a fun and common sense approach to training and has an answer to any question you can think of. There is no pressure at any class, and both my puppy and I really enjoy the sessions. My puppy Winston is now 19 weeks old and is a really contented little dog whose training is going well. We'll definitely be signing up to further courses with Potter Paws and highly recommend them.

We really enjoyed the Pawsome Puppy classes. It was a great class to learn the basic skills we needed to be able to communicate with Bert and learning all the different body languages. Bert also realyl enjoyed the social side to the class and getting to meet other puppies. It was also very helpful to hear other peoples problems with their puppy and realise it wasnt just Bert wanting to bite us :-)Debbie and Tash are great trainers and would high reccomend this class if you have just got a puppy. We will definitely be doing some more courses in the future.

I completed the pawsome puppies classes with our Cockapoo puppy Leah very recently, and we both loved very minute of it, she ran to the field each week ! Both Debbie and Tash are very knowledgeable and approachable also having plenty of suggestions to help with any problem you may have. The chat sessions at the beginning of classes were insightful into what other issues everyone else was having. We joined up to our next class straight away as we didn't want to lose the good work we had done. Will also look at joining the sniffer classes after christmas.

We attended the Pawsome Puppies Classes with our Cockapoo and I would thoroughly recommend them. Debbie and Tash are so knowledgable and we learnt so much doing the course, with the chance to ask loads of questions I had as a first time puppy owner! The fact it was held in a field was lovely as it was easier to spread out and there was no embarrassment if the dogs needed the toilet! The classes weren’t pressurised and the dogs weren’t forced into socialising until they were ready to, and then it was done in a controlled way. I also recommend the harness hiring scheme that they offer - they fit beautifully and we are on our 4th size already so it’s saved us a lot of money. We will definitely do some more courses with Potter Paws in the future.

I took our Golden Retriever to two Puppy Socials not long after the lock down restrictions enabled us to and it provided a perfect opportunity for him to meet and socialise with other dogs really for the first time in a safe environment. Also got some invaluable tips on how to manage interactions with other dogs.

We did our Pawsome Puppies course online, which initially we weren't sure how it would work but was so worthwhile. We learnt lots of strategies on beginning to train your puppy and the information we learnt and the knowledge shared by Debbie and Tash has been invaluable over the last 3 months and has provided a great basis as our Golden Retriever grows and develops. Have no hesitation in recommending Potter Paws to friends.

We had a wonderful time learning new skills and building a great relationship with Winston. This course offered us the opportunity to build a long lasting bond with our puppy and made sure we learnt a few tricks along the way. It want just about different learning sit but also how to manage new behaviours and experiences for Winston. We really enjoyed the course and cant wait for Life Skills to start.

Would recommend to anyone who is looking for puppy classes, we are already moving on to Houndschool and look forward to learning much more. Thank you.

We did this course with our little Flattie and she loved it. It was great to meet other puppies in a safe environment; it was a small class so she could give us lots of attention and in a fenced off field which was very natural and open. We learned a lot and so did the pupster. We would definitely go back as our doggie grows as there’s always something to learn and Debbie teaches in a relaxed and fun way.

As Archie was our first dog as a couple, my husband and I knew we’d need a helping hand to ensure we were managing his behaviour and ensuring we had a great relationship. The Pawsome Puppies class was a great way to kick that off, covering all of the expected commands mixed in with a lot of unexpected activities, tips and takeaways. Debbie was always on hand to answer any question, is an incredibly patient and positive trainer, and makes the whole process a joy. The focus on positive reinforcement and understanding behaviour has ensured we’re able to build an incredible relationship with our puppy - something we’re continuing to develop via sniffer dog classes and I’m sure many more in the future too!

Bertie is the third dog I have taken to puppy training classes over the years, and Potterpaws is by far the best training class I have been to. We learnt loads from the training that is helping us to teach Bertie to know what behaviour we want from him and for him to be happy to perform whatever task it is we want him to do. We have learnt calm behaviour, sitting and being relaxed, recall, sit, lay down, stand, socialising with others and being confident with unusual things. We have also learnt that training is fun for Bertie and stimulates his brain too. Bertie has been our calmest, least destructive and best behaved puppy. I am sure this training class (and the chews Debbie sells!) has been largely responsible for us achieving that. It has given Bertie a great start and has given us a happy dog who the whole family can enjoy training/playing with. We will be back for further courses as he grows up!

I booked Potter Paws puppy training when I got my first puppy.. I have never owned a dog before so felt like training was a must especially with having such a stubborn breed! Kiko (my pup) absolutely loved Potter Paws! The layout was fab and was catered for all types of pups and personalities. The training was easy to follow and very personalised if needed! I've taken away so much from puppy training which otherwise I wouldn't have known therefore highly recommend training with Debbie!
