What is Canine Parkour?

04/02/2022 - Training

Canine Parkour is sometimes known as urban agility, is an activity based on the same principles as human parkour. It is a challenging, but fun, physical activity in which the dogs learn to interact with their environment. We work on ways to conquer obstacles through climbing, balancing, and jumping, helping to build confidence in surroundings and improve body awareness.

Why should we learn it?

Parkour provides mental exercise for your dog but also works on strengthening various muscles to keep your dog fit and healthy. Learning new things helps to improve the relationship between you and you dog.

Who can take part?

**Everyone!!! **
Owners do not need to run or be particularly active.
Dogs of any age, breed, size and ability can enjoy Parkour. Exercises can be adpated to suit young puppies, older dogs or those with physical needs
Parkour is an individual sport so there is no competition. Dogs can go on to obtain individual titles as they progress.

How can we use it?

Parkour can help dogs to be more aware of and confident in their surroundings either at home or on walks. Whether that be generally through negiotiating pathways, rocky terrain, stiles and gates or purposefully looking for 'obstacles' such as** tree stumps**, branches, benches or walls on your walks to make your time out together more fun!
