Getting to know Emily of The Pupcake Princess Dog Bakery

11/12/2020 - Supporting Small Businesses

There are some fantastic businesses in and around Aylesbury and we want to showcase these businesses and show our support so we asked a number of local business owners a series of questions (including dog-related ones)!

We’re delighted to introduce the sixth business owner in our series… Emily of The Pupcake Princess Dog Bakery who are based in Somerset.  They make delicious and nutritious wheat-free, dairy free and natural home baked dog treats!

How long have you been in business?

7 years

What was the reason you started your business?

I wanted to find treats for my dog that I knew exactly what was in them and only had minimal ingredients. I decided to make my own treats from then on. I work in the veterinary profession and saw how many dogs cope better on a wheat-free natural diet, I am also wheat-intolerant myself.

Do you have a pet? If so, what do you have and what is their name/s?

I have a horse called Paint. He is 27 and he's been part of the family for 21 years. Since not having a dog, he now comes out with friends and their dogs and is just accepted as one of the pack. We go wild camping together, hiking, he comes running with me like a dog, he'll even trot next to me on a skateboard :-)

What is your favourite dog breed?

Old English Mastiff

Who is your favourite famous dog, or favourite film featuring a dog that you love to watch?

Fang from Harry Potter

What is your favourite quote?

I'll just go down and have some pudding and wait for it all to turn up... it always does in the end - Luna Lovegood

What's your favourite way to spend a Sunday?

Baking goodies for a picnic, then going for an adventure with my horse Paint. Rucksack filled with flask, homebaked snacks, and my sketchbook.

What three words would your significant other/parent/child use to describe you?

According to my mum.....Compassionate, artistic and practical

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A Vet

Do you have a useful poo bag hack?

For horse-size poo's in inappropriate places- always have some gardening gloves handy too!
