Dog Coats - a fashion accessory or an essential item?

25/01/2022 - The Potterings

Are you someone who dismisses dog coats as just an unnecessary fashion accessory?  Or do you think they’re useful?

As humans, we wear a coat outside so that we stay warm and dry so why shouldn’t the dog have one too?!  We put an Equafleece on our dogs when we go out  for walks so that their underneath stays clean and you only have to worry about cleaning their paws.

The Equafleece comes in different sizes and colours to suit all dogs and is said to help calm nervous dogs and help them breathe.  It’s lighter than many padded coats on the market and allows your dog to move more freely and even better is that you can put it on a quick wash when you get home and it will dry overnight on an airer, or in 10 minutes in the tumble dryer, and you’re ready for your next walk.

Dogs that are low to the ground will benefit from wearing an Equafleece especially when out splashing in puddles, but it is also important to consider your dog’s age and health. Like humans, dogs feel the cold more as they get older and dogs suffering with diabetes, heart disease, cancer and kidney disease are more prone to suffering the effects of the cold, and so if you haven’t already, it is worth looking at an Equafleece for your dog.

And, instead of bathing your dog after every walk with chemical shampoos we also recommend Mud Daddy.
You can fill a 5ltr Mud Daddy with warm water and take it with you on your walk.  The water should stay warm for a couple of hours enabling you to give your dog a wash down after walks and before you get back in the car, it will save an awful lot of time spent cleaning up. It can also be used to wash the mud off your own boots before you get back in the car too.
