Our Life Skills is the course for you!

The class will focus on general training for success in every day life using modern science based training techniques. The course is offered at 3 different levels to ensure you are working at the level appropriate to your dog. Novice, Foundation & Intermediate so you can progress through the levels and continue with your training. Our Advanced class is offered through our Pawsome Pals training club.

The Life Skills we cover include;
  • General Obedience - sit/down with stay, recall, walking nicely on the lead etc
  • Manners - leave/drop, not jumping up, settling
  • Social Manners - how to greet and interact with dogs appropriately
  • Tricks - the foundations of tricks including spin, bow, peek-a-boo
  • Play Skills - how to interact and train through play

Our classes are relaxed, informative and fun with an 'ask the trainer' tea break. A maximum of 6 dogs per class we ensure dogs and owners have space and time to progress.

Please Note, this course is suitable for dogs who are comfortable in the presence of other dogs, if your dog is human or dog reactive a series of 121 training would be more suitable. Please contact us prior to booking if you are unsure if this course is suitable for you.

Being new to the canine world with no experience of dogs at all, I became mum to two shihtzu puppies.I contacted Debbie for some 121 classes. From the very first meeting with her my puppies , Walter and Jessie, fell in love with with her and were enthusiastic participants in their training. Debbie s approach to the pups and myself can't be faulted. She turned me from a complete novice with no confidence in my own abilities to a positive happy fun and able owner. She made the training sessions easy and fun for us all. Her knowledge is first rate and she helped me to recognize all aspects of puppy care as important to their happiness and well being. Whether that be advice on feeding and treats, sleeping routines, to tips on walking and holding their attention. Fun and positivity is definitely key to the training sessions and Debbie has those attributes by the bucket load.IWe loved our time training with Debbie and I would recommend her to anyone , whether they are new to dogs, or just wanting some reinforcement or sharpening up of skills already learned. Her adaptability suits her style of training to all.Thank you so much Debbie!

We completed a 6 week Life Skills course during December and Debbie was so understanding with Loki (as she is quite vocal!) giving us some great tips along the way. The classes are relaxed which is great and you focus on your dog rather than what everyone else is doing. We loved it so much we have signed up for Pawsome Pals and have just enjoyed week 1 and I'm sure there will be many more.

I attended life skills for dogs in November December with my very strong willed labrador of nine months called Chilli. I found this course very helpful and now chilli listens and is much more obedient than before. Debbie was very easy to talk to and gave good advice on a number of issues.

Debbie has a deep understanding of, and empathy with dogs. What’s more she understands owners and the struggles they have with the “best friends!”She was just what I and Monty our Cavapoo puppy needed. She helped us understand one another, and provided practical solutions to real problems. Really.. we couldn’t recommend her more highly.

My puppy and I had never attended a training class before. Though the little one was very excited to meet new furry friends, I was very nervous and Debbie immediately made us feel welcome. Debbie was encouraging and supportive and ensured we worked at our own pace. The small improvements are often overlooked as an owner so focused on the perfect skill/trick taking place but Debbie notices the improvements each week and develops these individually. By the end of the course we now confidently have the tools, confidence and abilities to socialise anywhere and everywhere!

We recently adopted an ex-racing Greyhound and wanted to join some classes to bond with her and help her transition into home-life. Debbie is absolutely fantastic, she has been an invaluable source of advice for us and the classes are excellent. We're thoroughly looking forward to the Harry Potter 'Wizarding World' training class on Saturday and no doubt we will attend many more classes with Potter Paws. Classes are relaxed, and every dog (and human!) can work at their own pace with no pressure. It's wonderful knowing you're in the best hands with Debbie.

Bob and I did this as a follow on from her initial puppy training. This course is the natural next step for developing additional skills (both pet and keeper). All outdoors in a lovely field with plenty of opportunity to sniff and explore (just the dogs - not the peeps) and learn to work around distractions.

Brilliant classes. Would thoroughly recommend them. Both Ludo, our dog, and ourselves enjoyed the classes, and look forward to coming back in the future for more. Many, many thanks to Debbie for her support, wonderful advice and enthusiasm.
