Yet again Debbie is being versatile and clever with how she manages virtual training to meet a variety of needs, levels and interests. Classes are at four different times throughout the week so that those who are only available in the evening or at weekends can join in too on some classes. Themes of the classes changes from session to session. In my experience all sessions I’ve attended are fun and enriching for humans as well as dogs! Debbie has provided us with great enrichment ideas, varying from learning new tricks, like how to tidy up toys, to dog self entertainment (enrichment) to lead and recall practice. All giving us the opportunity to deepen and enhance our relationship with our dogs and all to be done from the comfort of our own home! Given lockdown timing couldn’t be better!

We are enjoying participating in Houndschool and the new things that we keep on learning. You don’t need to be a technology expert to join, a phone or laptop to join in. It is a good way to learn new things, ask questions and talk to other people and gives us something different to look forward to during the week.We have found with our dog that the mental stimulation has been beneficial for them to be able to relax more and we have noticed after lessons he is a lot calmer.Would highly recommend!

As well as the virtual classes for our 'regular' courses, Bob and I have also been tuning in to Houndschool - although on one occasion Bob was too pooped from her earlier class so I was just able to listen, ask questions and get loads of tips. The two I've found most useful for us are Lead Work and Enrichment. Bob is fantastic off lead and her recall is so reliable but walking nicely on lead is still very much a work in progress with a 20 month old working spaniel. Being able to practice the exercises in the comfort of my own living room is such a bonus, without the many overwhelming distractions of outdoors. Enrichment because, like most dogs given the chance, Bob will simply inhale her food the minute it's put down. Debbie has so many tips to get them 'foraging' for meals and treats which not only stops them gobbling their food down but gets them using their thinking and searching skills so mealtimes become an adventure not just a few seconds wonder. We all have different 'issues' with our furbabies but I guarantee you, at Houndschool - whatever your 'thing' - Debbie will have some fun and practical exercises that you and your doggie pal can work on together.....give it a go!
